Sporting Memories that last a lifetime

My name is Kevin MacMillan and I came to work at Rí Rá about 2 years ago – it has been and incredibly enjoyable time.

From the moment you walk through the front door, you’re greeted by an authentic Irish experience that you cannot get anywhere except of course in the Emerald Isle itself, and nothing brings out the passion in the Irish like a sports event.

From the soccer fanatics and rugby matches from around the world to the live music that fills the Victorian Bar, everyday is filled with something new.

My fondest memory from working at Rí Rá was when the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team won the World Cup. The crowd was heaving, chanting “USA! USA!” Before having worked in Rí Rá, I would’ve never guessed that soccer would have such a large following in Portland, Maine, but oh it sure does. When the team won, everybody broke out into cheers and it was such a cool moment to have experienced and one I will never forget.

And when any sports team from Ireland is playing, the experience is truly special. The pub fills with Irish descendants and visitors to partake in the viewing, almost like a gathering of the Clans.

I am so glad that I have found such enjoyment from a job here at Rí Rá!

Book a Party

There are those special occasions in your life when a 6 pack and a couple of frozen pizzas just won’t cut it, so draft in the party professionals – the Irish.
