We’re celebrating 25 years of business with a chance to win a trip for two to Ireland!<\/b><\/p>\n
We’ve been celebrating our 25<\/span>th<\/span> Anniversary all year and as the year comes to a close, the pub is organising a 3 day celebration from 28<\/span>th<\/span> \u2013 30<\/span>th<\/span> October, culminating in one of our lucky locals winning a fabulous trip for two to Ireland!<\/span><\/p>\n General Manager Des Whelan explains <\/span>\u201cR\u00ed R\u00e1 is as close to an authentic Irish Pub & Restaurant experience as you can get anywhere in the United States. All of the pub interiors were salvaged and restored in Ireland and shipped to Portland, so you are literally sitting in a bar that once was in Ireland! Our menu contains all the classic Irish dishes you\u2019d expect, with original recipes we\u2019ve had for more than a quarter of a century. Being an Irish Pub, we are especially proud of the quality of our pint of Guinness \u2013 such an integral part of the Irish Identity\u201d<\/span><\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Indeed, the pint of Guinness is playing a central role in the 25<\/span>th<\/span> Anniversary celebrations. Whelan continues, \u201c<\/span>When we were organising the 25<\/span><\/i>th<\/span><\/i> Anniversary, we realized that we were most likely going to surpass an incredible milestone of the pouring of the 1,000,000<\/span><\/i>th<\/span><\/i> pint of Guinness since we opened here. So we thought, why not mark that incredible achievement by giving away a Trip for 2 to the person lucky enough to have the 1,000,000<\/span><\/i>th<\/span><\/i> pint poured from them. Based on our average sales data, we know that this will happen in or around the last week of October, so we built a celebration around that<\/span><\/i>\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n While they don\u2019t exactly know when that 1,000,000<\/span>th<\/span> pint will be poured \u2013 that will be down to how much Guinness is served between now and the 30<\/span>th<\/span> October.<\/span><\/p>\n Wednesday 28th :<\/strong> Traditional Irish Music \u2013 \u2018Trad Session\u2019 in the pub, starting at 7pm<\/span><\/p>\n Thursday 29th :<\/strong> Guinness Glass Engraving and Live Music from 6pm-9pm<\/span><\/p>\n Friday 30th :<\/strong> Live Music and Meet & Greet with the Founders from 6pm<\/span><\/p>\n The original founders, still own the pub and will be on hand to present the prize. Dubliners Ciar\u00e1n Sheehan and David Kelly are well known faces to all the R\u00ed R\u00e1 locals and are excited to take part in the celebrations. According to David Kelly <\/span>\u201cWhile we\u2019ve seen a lot of change in Portland since we first set up R\u00ed R\u00e1, we are very proud to have been the original and authentic Irish home from home for so many locals, tourists and indeed ex-pats for over 25 years. They come here to meet, eat and drink just as the Irish do themselves in thousands of pubs across the country in Ireland.
