Fancy yourself as the master of ‘Splitting the G’? Then this is for you. We’re holding our very first Splitting the G contest, in association with Guinness on Sunday April 26th at 3pm. The Contest is limited to the first 32 people to sign up on the day – so get there early to make sure you get a spot! These 32 contestants will be entered into a bracket style knockout competition.
The overall winner will win two tickets to one of Ed Sheeran’s concerts at Foxborough in September 2026 plus there are other prizes to be won including 100 ‘Split the G’ Shirts!
So, what is ‘Splitting the G’?
Splitting the G is a drinking game that has gone viral through social media where people are challenged to see if they can get the head of the pint to settle in the middle of the G (and therefore splitting the G) of the Guinness logo on the pint glass. Terms & Conditions
Promoter
This competition is hosted by Rí Rá Irish Pub & Restaurant, Portland (the “Promoter”) in association with Guinness U.S.
Eligibility
The competition is open to individuals aged 21 years or over in accordance with Maine state law. Valid government-issued photo identification may be required. Employees of the Promoter, its affiliates, and their immediate family members are excluded.
Compliance with Maine Law
This promotion is conducted in accordance with applicable State of Maine liquor laws and regulations. No purchase or payment is required to enter or participate. Participation in the competition does not require the purchase or consumption of alcohol. Participants can opt to choose Non Alcoholic Guinness 0.0 if they do not wish to consume alcohol but would still like to participate in the contest.
Entry
Entry to the competition is free of charge. The first 32 people to sign up at the appointed time of the promotion – 3pm on Sunday 26th April 2026, in person at Rí Rá Portland shall be entered into a bracket style knockout competition. By entering, participants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
Competition Format
The competition will be conducted in a bracket-style knockout format. Participants will compete head-to-head in successive rounds, with winners progressing through the bracket until a final winner is determined.
Judging Criteria
Each round will be judged based on the participant’s ability to “split the G.” The winner of each contest will be determined solely by the appointed judges. Judges will decide, at their absolute discretion, which participant came closest to splitting the “G.” All judging decisions are final and no correspondence with regard to the Judges decisions will be entered into.
Prizes
Any prizes awarded are non-transferable and have no cash alternative unless otherwise stated. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value if necessary.
Responsible Service of Alcohol
The Promoter supports the responsible consumption of alcohol. Participants are not required to consume alcohol to participate. The Promoter reserves the right to refuse service of alcohol to any participant in accordance with Maine law.
Conduct
The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any participant who behaves in a manner that is unsafe, disruptive, or in violation of venue policies or applicable laws. All participants must comply with local licensing laws and venue rules.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Promoter shall not be liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from participation in the competition.
Amendments & Cancellation
The Promoter reserves the right to amend, suspend, or cancel the competition at any time where necessary due to circumstances beyond its control or to ensure compliance with applicable laws
